Our complex and digital world constantly bombards our senses from all directions which can make it difficult for our brain processing to keep up. Just like the “spinning wheel” on your computer tells you it’s having trouble processing, people can also experience their mind “going in circles”.
Having difficulty focusing on one thing at a time, a busy brain flits from thought to thought and task to task. Focus, on the other hand, requires paying attention to something for an extended period of time while tuning out other stimuli. When easily distracted, it’s difficult to actually get things done, which can result in stress and feeling overwhelmed.
Lifestyle and dietary factors play a big role in supporting better control of attention and focus. Exercise, fresh air, adequate sleep and a healthy, high protein diet are good foundations. In addition, it’s important to eat meals on time, or more frequently, and avoid high carbohydrate snacking. Why? Because low blood sugar can also contribute to a lack of focus or feelings of fatigue and some people are more susceptible to blood sugar fluctuations.
Daniel Amen, MD, founder of Amen Clinics and the dietary supplements line BrainMD, has dedicated his career to supporting brain health and brain function. His Attention and Focus Protocol offers natural ingredients selected for their clinically researched benefits in supporting overall brain function, attention, focus and learning.
This protocol aims to correct nutrient deficiencies, promote healthy blood flow and nutrient delivery, support antioxidant defenses and healthy inflammatory balance and promote cellular energy generation, neurotransmitter balance and calm alertness.
